Weekend with Tim

This past weekend our friend Tim came to visit us from college. It was a short weekend, but it was great to see him and hangout before our lives change. Friday night he didn't get in until really late, we ended up staying up for a couple of hours just talking. It reminded us of our college days. Saturday the boys slept in a little, while I went to work out. I did my spin class. I love those classes, however I just started to notice that its becoming a little difficult to spin on the bike and breath because of my belly! We will see how much longer I will be able to keep it up. When I got home the guys were sitting on the deck enjoying a nice cup of coffee and relaxing. We decided to take Tim to Martins Bar-B-Que which is a local restaurant in our town that has been featured on the food networks Diners, Drive In and Dives. It was the first time that we had been, I am not a big fan of Bar-b-que but its a unique place so we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is very cool. Its not high class but a great little place that give you a small home town feel. They smoke there meat, so my only problem with the place was at times the restaurant would fill up with smoke. But I am probably that exception to the rule, Tim loved that part of the restaurant. I do have to say though we can go back there to eat, which means the food was good. I got chicken tenders of course. Brandon and Tim ate Bar-b-que.
Once we finished lunch we were off to downtown Franklin. It was a gorgeous day out, the sun was shinning and steamy. We walked around downtown, and ended up getting dessert at Sweet CeCes! My new favorite ice-cream shops. They have soft serve yogurt. They have about 10 different flavors on any given day, you walk in and you get a big dish. Then you can add any flavor ice cream in your dish, I got snicker doodle and very vanilla. Once you have added the ice-cream there is a topping bar. You name it they got it. Fresh fruit, hot fudge, and candy just to name a few. Then you weigh your dish, and pay. We then headed back to the house to relax before meeting our friend for dinner that night. Brandon and Tim watched "Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia" while I read a book on the deck trying to get some sun.
Saturday night we ended up meeting some friend for dinner at a Chuys a mexican restaurant in Franklin. We had a good time enjoying everyone company, they even got to hear some of Tim's stories, and if you know Tim than you know we all had a good laugh.
Sunday came and it was time for Tim to head back. He had a very long drive home, we were so glad that he decided to come out for a visit. I tried to take some picture to document his weekend visit. If you look you will see the baby bump!

Vocal Chords are Developing

Last week I was 24 weeks, and sometime during last week I notice some random hiccups. Periodically throughout the day I would just have one hiccup. I just thought it was odd, until last night. I was reading "What to Expect while Expecting", and for week 25 this is what it said "Your baby's vocal cords are functioning now, leading to occasional hiccups." So I figured out why I am having random hiccups.

This week a friend of mine sent me this link..

I thought it was really cute. I know we didn't wait as long as some people have had to, but it make a great outfit. Maybe I should pick this up, it would make a great outfit to wear home from the hospital. LOL

The Nashville Flood

This is a historic moment in Nashville's history. Attached you will find this slide show, its pretty amazing how much damage the downtown area received.
We are very lucky, our house had no major damage. The roads to our house were washed out saturday night and sunday evening, but they are open and ready for those to travel on.

Our Saturday Drive

This Saturday the plan was to go and look at baby bedding, and order our chair for the babies room. That morning we woke up and it was raining. We thought that we still could get our plan done for today, but little did we know that things would end up a little different. We drove to Green Hills mall, just so we could get to Pottery Barn Kids. We should have just called. While at the store the bedding that I wanted to look at is back ordered until June 22nd, and the bookshelf we wanted to see they don't have in the store. Of course we could pay and order it and pick it up at the store but I don't know about you. I like to see and feel the product before purchasing it. So that was a worthless trip. So we were on our way back to coolsprings. While driving the rain was getting worse. I looked at Brandon and said, maybe we should just go home. He said we just need to stop one place and we can do the rest some other time. We were getting off the interstate and headed down the drive to the mall and all of these brake lights came on. We didn't know what was going on, as soon as we got over a lane we notice the road was flooded. So change of plans we were going home. Good thing we made this decision when we did. We got home around 1 and it didn't get any better the rest of the day. Here is our trip back.

23 weeks and baby things

This week marks 23 weeks, and I definitely showing. It seems like it happened overnight. This past weekend my family came into town, because Sarah was running the half marathon. The weather that day wasn't suppose to be the greatest, but she finished in time before the rain came. After seeing some of those people finish the race, I told Brandon that next year we could do it! We will see about that he said.

Saturday into Sunday, I started to notice that my belly button was flattening out. I heard that it should eventually start to poke out. We will see everyone's body is different. Last week though we got some things for Baby Hoop. I say baby hoop because his name is up for discussion. I would start a poll on the side, but everyone says it should be something we decided because everyone will have their opinion. Baby Hoop's Great Grandma Hoop purchased us our stroller. We decided to go with the Bob Revolution jogging stroller. We placed the order a couple of weeks ago with REI. (REI is a outdoor sporting goods store) I highly suggest purchasing it from them, because when we arrived to pick it up, it was all put together! A friend of ours said that is nice because when you are putting together baby items the directions say 20-30min but it can take twice as long. So we picked it up last week. Its so great, I can't wait to start using it. We do have to wait though, we don't have the infant car seat attachment yet. Once we have that and the infant car seat we will be ready to go.

Also last week I picked up our bassinet bedding. I was searching online about a month ago for new bedding options, and when I saw this I loved it. In our house the baby's room is upstairs, and the master is down. So the bassinet will be in our room for a while.

We also have been getting baby clothing for him. We have gotten a couple of Bears outfits, so come fall and football season he will be somewhat prepared. He has an outfit for 0-3 months, 3-6 months, and the last item you see will be something he will be wearing next winter.

This past week we have been able to feel the baby kick me. I say kick because Brandon thought he was having a hiccups. Occasionally I will feel stuff during the day, but its not becoming a regular occurrence, they say that will come in time.

Baby Hoop is a Boy!

Baby Boy Foot! Hopefully He won't get big feet like me!

He looking at you!

Sorry it has taken me a while to post about last week, but my computer for the past two days has been acting up. To be without a computer some would say not a big deal, but for me it was. This is the only computer in our house right now, so I was on a mission of getting it taken care of. I have a MAC and I have never had problems until now. And this problem was probably more my fault than the computers, but last night I went to a friends house and we got it taken care of.
Now on to the news you all want to really know about. Last Tuesday we had our ultra sound appointment and it lasted a couple of hours. We arrived, and of course we were 10 min late. The usual for us. We were called in to the ultrasound room, and the ultrasound technician began, I asked her if we could listen to the heart beat because Brandon didn't get to hear that last time. She informed us that the heart rate was 139 and so my brain starting thinking I wonder if its a boy. There is a old wives tale out there saying if the heart rate is lower than 150 its a boy. Than she proceeded to show us the baby's head the cerebellum, left and right membrane, the heart chambers, spinal cord, blood flow, the umbilical cord, and she measure the skin growth. We got to see the babies arms and hands, he has all 10 fingers! Next were the legs, and I was trying to see if I could tell anything and I couldn't. Our ultrasound was not 3 or 4D, it was just black and white. So it hard to see most things. All I know was that she said the baby was moving around a lot and that it was hard to get it to stay still. Our appointment was at 8am and I was getting my diabetes test done, so before I got to the office I had to drink this sugar drink. She said no wonder why its moving around so much. We didn't find the sex out until the very end. And its a boy! A healthy boy!! All the numbers in the ultrasound were great, and he was weighing in at 11 ounces.
We were very excited to find the sex out, now we can start thinking of names, nursery colors, and finding boy clothing. I will say a little bit of me was sad, I think Brandon would make a great dad for a little girl. Well hopefully next time. But we are very happy that it seems very healthy, and I am doing great. Def. growing. I haven't taken any pictures yet of me and my growing body. Its not something that I find a lot of joy in, I will not be able to stay away from the camera forever. One day you will see one. Until that day occurs here are two pictures from the ultrasound, and some clothes we already picked up for him!

What do you think??

So we are less than one week away from finding out what gender are baby is! How exciting. We are excited and nervous. I am not really nervous, Brandon probably is just like most men out there, he really would like a boy. Me on the other hand, I am ok either way. I just hope the baby is healthy! So I am asking my readers to vote. What do you think we are going to have.
I will give some hints, some of you are probably thinking that hints will not help. But those who are already mothers it might help you in your decision.
1. The Chinese calendar says we are going to have a girl.
2. I feel that I am carrying low. So take that however you interpret it.

I will let you know next week!! Have a great Easter.
