Wilson County Fair

Last weekend my parent came into town, and one of the things we went to was the Wilson County Fair. This is suppose to be the biggest fair around besides the state fair. I was really looking forward to it because I love seeing the animals. So we got there in the afternoon, and there were a ton of cars in the parking lot area. We headed in and started walking around. We came across a horse making home made ice cream. It was very good. We got to pet some of the horses while they were waiting on their turn to mix the mixture. So after that we walked around some more, we couldn't find any animals. It was crazy. We proceeded to walk around the area that all the rides were in for some carnival food. I love elephant ears, but last year at a different county fair we couldn't find any. Well I spotted a booth that said they had some. I was so excited. I walked up to the counter and they told me it was to hot our side and that the dough was not cooperating!! I could not believe it. After walking around some more I spotted another booth that had a sign up. Waited in line and asked for one, and they were sold out. I thought how could they be sold out, the fair just stared yesterday and they have another week left.
So we left the fair, it was a nice time and a very big fair. Sunday we woke up before church and we were watching the news. They were talking about how the fair had a huge turnout and they thought it was because of the fuel prices that people were using this as a vacation. A year ago that Saturday they had only 35,000 people. Well the Saturday we went they had 98,000!! No wonder why they were sold out of my Elephant Ears!!

That sucks they were sold out! I love them too! In Canada, we call them beaver tails, and we serve them with nutella and maple syrup! Mmmmm!
