Happy Birthday Weston - August 26, 2010

Family Photo (one that I look presentable in!)

After his first Bath

Well the day finally arrived, or to put it literally the night finally arrived when Weston decided to start and make his entrance into the world. He was due August 24th, and that week I was trying all sorts of wives tales to try and get him to arrive. We went to the doctor on Monday and things just weren't progressing enough to be induced this week. I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. So I left very disappointing. My doctor told me to go home and eat Eggplant Parmesan, its an old wives tale and there is a restaurant in Florida that if you don't go into labor within 24 hours they will give you your money back. So we decided we would give it a try. On our way home Brandon and I went to Olive Garden. Most people can't believe that I would try it, but sometimes you are just desperate. When we got home Weston was really moving around inside my belly. We were watching it take different forms and shapes. But nothing happened. Tuesday came and I got up and walked both girls, went to the pool a couple of hours and then met my friend Ashley and her daughter to get ice cream. On the way home Brandon told me to get eggplant and so I stopped by the store and went home to make eggplant Parmesan again. That night I didn't really notice a difference. Nothing happened, and so that meant no more eggplant parmesan for me. Wed the 25th I woke up and I was tired! I just didn't want to wake up. The whole day I felt tired. I told Brandon later that day that I thought maybe I would go into labor soon since I was so tired. That week people had left me messages on facebook about bouncing on a exercise ball. So that night I went to my neighbors house to borrow hers, and at night that is what I did. I bounced on it for about an hour, and we went to bed. Around 12:30 that night I woke up thinking I had to go to bedroom to find out that my water had broken. I just couldn't believe it, most peoples water doesn't break on their own. So we got around and headed to the hospital. We got checked in at 1:30 and even though my water had broke there was no change. Still 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. We knew we were going to be at the hospital for a long time. Finally at 6Am I was given pitocin, by 7:30 I was have contractions 1.5min apart and I couldn't take it anymore. I had to give into the epidural. Once I had the epidural, I don't understand why people don't want to use it or wait so long to get it. It was wonderful. I could see the contractions coming, and feel the pressure but the pain was not there. Around 2pm I was complete and my doctor was so excited. She said it was time to push. Here is where I can see why an epidural can hinder you. When they say push, you think you are but who knows if you really are. After and 1.5 to 2 hrs of pushing they decided a c-section was the way to go. He was sunny side up, and we couldn't get him to turn. Also he was hitting my pelvic bone and wasn't going to come down the birth canal. So within the half-hour I think I don't know we were off. During the c-section I was so numb I was having a hard time breathing. At least I thought so, they said my oxygen levels were fine so I had to focus on breathing. I do remember and feel when he came out, and everyone was saying he was a BIG boy. They had the NICU there and ready, and he was checked out. He was completely healthy and weighted 8 Lbs and 11oz and 20 1/4inch Long. He has dark hair for now, and he is beautiful. We are so in love with him. He has been such a good baby. The recovery process for me has been a hard one. Basically I had two births and one baby. I pushed for 1.5 to 2 hrs, than I had a c-section. So for the first 24hrs of being in the hospital it was a big blur. And I wasn't feeling up to seeing anyone but family. By the time he was born My parents and Brandon's parents had made it. We were so blessed to have them all here and share in this experience. On Friday morning Sarah flew in and she got to meet him. Saturday morning I was feeling better, more myself. We had a lot of friends come up and meet him, along with family. Sunday afternoon though I was released and ready to come home. My parents had to leave, so my mom could get back because school started on monday. Sarah left sunday morning as well as Dave, since they all have to get back to work. Patty is staying for the week. She has been a big help, and I am sure she will continue to be a huge help the rest of the week. This is a whole new experience for us, so we are so very grateful. Well enough I am sure you all want to see pictures!

He's a CUTIE for sure! Glad to hear everything went well and you're ok! Everyone's birth story is different, just like each baby and each woman's body is unique :) You are a GREAT mom!!!
